The Mubako Language Project
The Mubako is a living African language, spoken by the over 35,000 Bali-chamba people in Cameroon, specifically in Balikumbat, Baligham, Baligashu and Bali-Gansen. Unlike most local languages it does yet an alphabet, bible scripture, written poem, song or drama script. This retards their cultural and spiritual development.
This project aims to mobilize the concerned communities to form a Mubako Language Study Committee which should partner with the Bamenda Regional Training Centre (BRTC) of CABTAL/SIL to develop the language for comprehensive literacy and the preservation and promotion of the native knowledge of the indigenous culture.
Persons involved:
- Liyong Emmanuel Sama – coordinator/CEO of CIRMAD
- Pastor Dugha Eric – Douala
- Peter Doh Kintibe – Chairman of BADO Cultural Committee
